The 400-person capacity Bottom Line, located on W. 4th Street & Mercer in the Village, was one of the city’s best venues, and a step up in respectability for Patti and the band, who were firing on all cylinders as a result of a relentless year promoting their revered debut album, Horses. A sell-out house triggered a third show to be added at 2:00AM, a milestone that stands as a valid measure of Patti’s growing popularity in New York at the time, and as the iconic figurehead she would go on to become.
