Joy Orbison stamps his sound across Jorja Smith’s incredible version of ‘Rose Rouge’.
“This remix reminds me of my earlier work – but maybe a more realised take on what I was trying to do back then,” says Joy O. “I was conscious of how the original track had been sampled many times in house & garage records and wanted to incorporate a bit of that while taking Jorja’s version in a new direction.”
He most certainly does that. Her sultry vocal mixes perfectly with his UK garage take on the classic St Germain track, taking a turn towards the dancefloor after a breezy, hypnotising intro. Now on a limited run of heavyweight etched black vinyl exclusively for Record Store Day 2023.
